Petersen is keen to stay in Bremen

The player believes the club has big potential.

Nils Petersen signed a deal with Bayern in 2011, finishing the previous season as the top scorer of the second league, yet failed to secure a place in the senior squad of Munich-based side. The striker was given on a loan to Bremen where he has already netted 11 goals this season.

The forward states that he wants to remain a part of the Bremen side for the following season.

“We have a young and powerful squad. We have the potential to do better than 11th. I want to be part of the squad when we do that next year, “ explained Petersen.

Werder faces the undefeatable Bayern in the next round, but despite losing the last match to Freiburg 3-2 the player is confident ahead of trip to the Allianz Arena.

“I am looking forward to the game,” the 24-year-old player claimed. “Everybody believes we stand no chance at Munich but, unlike those games against clubs like Freiburg, we don’t have any pressure. We have looked good in those games. Werder can surprise the big teams.”
