Pique is positive about the upcoming season

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has come back from his summer vacation and started training sessions with the senior squad, preparing for the Spanish Super Cup where his team meets Real Madrid.

In a short interview before the training the player expressed his belief that his personal goals for the upcoming season were irrelevant, as: ’more than a personal aspiration I think it’s essential to set out team’s objectives.’ He said that the pre-season work gave him inspiration and confidence that he would start the season at a good level.

Piqué assured Barcelona fans the team would put all energy and determination to win La Liga, yet he confessed that Real Madrid are equal to Barca, stating: ’right now the chances are 50/50. Both are very talented teams with depth and strength and at this moment they’ve an evenly matched squad.’

Pique also stated that a new coach Tito Vilanova brought something different into the team, though the side follows ‘the same lines as before’.
