Police to investigate Bassong abuse

Police has launched an investigation into the racist abuse of Norwich centre back Sébastien Bassong.

The 26 year-old Cameroon international has complained to the referee Howard Webb during the match between Norwich and Swansea that the Swansea fan has allegedly made racist gestures towards him as Norwich were celebrating their fourth goal.
That same day three racist messages were sent to Bassong on Twitter.

Police has arrested the 23 year-old Swansea fan. Later he was charged with racist abuse.

Norwich issued the official statement with regard to the matter. “Norwich City Football Club wish to reiterate that we have a zero tolerance stance on racism and will pursue these and any other examples of discrimination aimed at any of our colleagues to the fullest extent of the law,’ the statement said.
