Premier League. Chelsea miss the chance to go four points clear

Chelsea conceded a late equalizer at The Hawthorns and missed the chance to go four points clear at the top of Premier League table.

Chelsea dominated for the biggest part of the game and Branislav Ivanovic opened the scoring in the added time of the first half after a corner kick. However, West Bromwich came back into the game in the second half and managed to equalize on 87 minutes through Victor Anichebe.

Jose Mourinho thought his side felt too comfortable in the match:
“I think the game for 60 minutes was completely in our hands, West Brom didn’t put one foot in our box. We couldn’t kill the game.”
“In the last 20 minutes they put us under pressure and they scored a goal as a consequence. Maybe they deserved that point.”

Pepe Mel was quite pleased with the result despite failing to win a single match in England so far:
“I am very pleased. The players worked hard and were strong. If we scored the goal earlier, we would win the game,” he said.
“Chelsea were in front, for me today is a good day. The players performed very well and, for sure, if we scored a goal before them, we would win the game.”

West Bromwich Albion will now have a break to spend in Spain, while Chelsea start getting ready for Saturday clash against Manchester City in The FA Cup.

Meanwhile, Southampton beat Hull City at KC Stadium courtesy of Jose Fonte goal, Cardiff City and Aston Villa shared a goalless draw in Wales, and West Ham celebrated the third straight 2-0 victory in the League after beating Norwich at Boleyn Ground.
