Premier League fixtures preview: Tottenham vs Manchester City

Premier League fixtures preview: Tottenham vs Manchester City

Manchester City will enter the Premier League clash against Tottenham knowing that a loss against the Spurs would mean they surrender the title to the Manchester United, should the Red Devils secure the victory over bottom-dwelling Aston Villa.

Meanwhile the injury-plagued Tottenham face a tough challenge of trying to beat the in-form defending champions in their chase of Champions League spots.

Tottenham team news:

Tottenham sweat over the fitness of their three key players – Lennon, Defoe and, most importantly, Bale. Trio will be assessed by the medical staff ahead of the game to decide whether they are fit enough to be included in the starting XI. Most likely Andre Villas-Boas will field all of them but will be forced to replace them in the course of the game. Dempsey, Sigurdsson and Holtby could be used to fill the vacant positions, should any of the abovementioned players be not available for the game.

Younes Kaboul and William Gallas face a race against time to regain fitness with Dawson and Vertonghen likely to start in the heart of Tottenham defense.

Manchester City team news:

Despite Man City having enough depth in squad, the players will likely be exhausted after playing against Chelsea on Sunday and Wigan on Wednesday.

Sergio Aguero is sidelined due to hamstring injury, while Maicon is suffering from virus. Good news for Mancini will be the return of David Silva after recovering from hamstring damage.

Mancini is expected to make several changes to his squad following a 1-0 win over Wigan, with Zabaleta, Clichy and Nastasic likely to replace Richards, Kolarov and Lescott.
