Southampton have ended Liverpool’s run of good results with an impressive 3-1 win at St. Mary’s.

The Saints were completely dominating the first half after Schneiderlin got off them to a flying start with a cool finish in the fifth minute of the game. Lambert doubled Southampton’s lead with a deflected free-kick a in the 33rd minute. Philippe Coutinho clawed one back just before the half-time. Liverpool’s improved performance in the second half was not enough to save the game, with Rodriguez rounding off Saints’ victory in the 79th minute.

The victory allows Pochettino’s side to move seven points of the relegation zone, while Liverpool remain seventh. Brendan Rodgers admitted the Reds just were not good enough and started playing, when they were two goals down.
