West Ham delivered an excellent defensive display to hold silky Liverpool side to a scoreless draw at Anfield.

The impressive defensive performance by the Hammers saw them effectively keeping at bay technically gifted and creative Liverpool attacking line. West Ham could have taken all three points, however Lucas cleared Taylor’s shot off the line in the dying stages of the game. Liverpool were a better side in the opening half, commanding possession and creating chances, however they failed to test Jaaskelainen thanks to effective defending, with James Collins being particularly impressive at the back.

All in all a draw is a fair result for the game that could go either way. However the Hammers’ fans will be disappointed that their favourite James Tomkins picked up an injury in the 82nd minute. Liverpool have also lost Stuart Downing to an injury after just 21 minutes into the game.
