Premier League results

Chelsea suffer a first defeat in the current campaign at Goodison Park courtesy of Steven Naismith goal in the dying time of the first half. Juan Mata, David Luiz and Samuel Eto’o all made their season debuts on the night.

Some farcical dives from Ashley Young put a shade on United’s win over Crystal Palace. The Belgian duo Marouane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj made their Premier League debuts for the Red Devils while Wayne Rooney scored brilliantly from a free-kick to couple Van Persie’s penalty strike.

Manchester City felt relieved after earning one point at Britannia Stadium while Gylfi Sigurðsson’s brace proved enough for Tottenham to beat Norwich City.

Arsenal’s marquee signing Mesut Ozil started for the team and was instrumental in the away win over Paolo Di Canio’s Sunderland.

Manchester United 3-0 Crystal Palace
Aston Villa 1-2 Newcastle United
Fulham 1-1 West Bromwich
Hull City 1-1 Cardiff City
Stoke City 0-0 Manchester City
Sunderland 1-3 Arsenal
Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Norwich City
Everton 1-0 Chelsea
Southampton 0-0 West Ham United

Swansea City will host Liverpool on Monday night.
