Premier League results: Arsenal 0-0 Manchester United and more

Arsenal missed the chance to return to the top of Premier League after a stalemate against Manchester United at The Emirates.

A thrilling clash in London ended in a goalless draw as Arsenal failed to exploit United’s weaknesses. Arsenal were better in terms of posession, but United defended well on the night and Robin van Persie had a couple of deadly attempts denied by Wojciech Szczęsny.

Arsene Wenger felt his players were too cautions after Saturday drubbing at Anfield:

“Our defensive focus was extreme today because we conceded so many goals on Saturday. It was important not to lose tonight.
“United restricted us to very few chances but our team was highly focused not to concede tonight and maybe that restricted our game going forward.
“We were certainly hit by the five goals we conceded on Saturday and you could feel that a little bit tonight. I think we were nervous where we are usually very dangerous breaking through the middle with speedy passing.”

David Moyes looked pleased with a point at Arsenal:

“We defended well throughout the game.
“I’d have liked to have played better going forward. I thought we did a lot of good things in the game.”

Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a comfortable 4-0 victory at St.James Park courtesy of goals from Emmanuel Adebayor, twice, Paulinho and Nacer Chadli. Liverpool grabbed a late winner at Craven Cottage to cut the gap to first-placed Chelsea to four points as Steven Gerrard shone for the Reds. Stoke and Swansea shared points at Britannia Stadium as Chico denied Peter Crouch’s opener.

Manchester City vs Everton match and Everton vs Crystal Palace were popstponed due to strong wind and rain and will be played later in the season.
