Rafa Benitez takes over Chelsea after Di Matteo

The former Valencia, Liverpool and Inter Milan supremo Rafael Benitez takes over the reins at Chelsea for the reminder of the season after Roberto Di Matteo dismissal. The Spaniard is due to start his work this Thursday. The owner Roman Abramovich and Chelsea Board set big hopes on Rafa Benitez who earned two La Liga titles for Valencia and led Liverpool to UEFA Champions League victory in the 2004/05 season.

Roberto Di Matteo left Chelsea after Champions League 0-3 loss to Juventus on Tuesday. It should be recalled that it was the Italian who led Abramovich’s club to their first Champions League title.
