Real Madrid ready to part ways with Higuain

Real Madrid ready to part ways with Higuain

General manager Jose Angel Sanchez revealed Real Madrid are looking to offload their forward Gonzalo Higuain in summer.

The 25-year-old Argentina international has netted 13 goals in 23 La Liga appearances this season while competing with Karim Benzema for the role of team’s first-choice striker. And yet it looks like his six-year stay at Santiago Bernabeu is close to end. Higuain has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Juventus.

Should Higuain be sold, Real Madrid will be looking for a quality replacement, with such high-profile players as Tottenham’s Gareth Bale and Man City Aguero considered as most likely candidates to fill in Higuain’s spot. Sanchez also confirmed Karim Benzema is likely to stay put.

He said: “In a great club like real, we believe we need two number nines of a high level. We have Benzema and Higuain, Higuain will leave, Benzema will stay and two others will come.”
