Real’s Marcelo sidelined with foot injury

Real’s Marcelo sidelined with foot injury

Brazil international and Real Madrid defender Marcelo is ruled out for about three months due to the metatarsal injury in his right foot.

He picked up the injury in Wroclaw while training with his national team ahead of the forthcoming friendly against Japan on Tuesday. The player also won’t be match-fit for international matches against Egypt and Gabon.

The loss of Marcelo put a rough patch for Real supremo Jose Mourinho as his other left-back Fabio Coentrao sustained a muscle injury while on international duty with Portugal. The heavyweight Real Madrid is left without solid defensive cover, and if in La Liga the team can struggle more or less efficiently with Michael Essien and Alvaro Arbeloa as possible options, the Champions League fixtures against Borussia Dortmund on October 24 and November 6 makes Mourinho’s hair curl.
