Ronaldo, Van Persie, Özil, Rooney to Miss Friendlies

With dozens of weekend matches in major European leagues done and dusted, here is the list of the top players injured in the latest fixtures who will miss international friendlies on Wednesday.

Both Miroslav Klose and Mesut Özil are unavailable for Germany’s friendly clash with Holland. The forward is struck down with flu while midfielder has minor muscle problem.

Cristiano Ronaldo is also out of Portugal’s friendly in Gabon, due to the eye injury picked up in the Saturday’s fixture against Levante.

Walcott and Rooney are among five players to be dropped out of the trip to Sweden by England manager Roy Hodgson. Red’s skipper injured right ankle while Gunner’s ace has a glute muscle problem.

Yet another Man Utd man was forced to withdraw from international duty: Premier League top-scorer Van Persie will miss game against Germany with a thigh injury.
