Schalke pens a deal with Raffael

The German club finds a replacement for injured Ibrahim Afellay.

Schalke manager Horst Heldt claimed the club sealed a deal with Dynamo Kiev player Raffael. The head coach underlined the club “is pleased to have the commitment of Raffael as it increases our opportunities in attack.”

The 27-year-old midfielder spent four years at Hertha Berlin joining Dynamo Kiev last summer. His Bundesliga record is 23 goals in 110 matches, while in the Ukrainian club he netted once in nine fixtures.

The player himself claimed he is excited to return to the Bundesliga, adding he is “honored to wear the Schalke shirt”.
