Scolari bid farewell to Palmeiras

Former Portugal, Brazil and Chelsea supremo Luiz Felipe Scolari bowed out with Palmeiras on 13 September after the team went down the drain in the 2012 Campeonato Brasileiro.

After a 3-1 rout to Vasco da Gama, São Paulo club suffered a substantial comedown to the relegation zone with only 24 points. The ill-favoured setback nudged the team management to end the deal with the coach.

‘Palmeiras are endlessly thankful to the great coach for his benefit to the club; he was a fantastic asset for the team’.

Felipao (Big Phil), as he is nicknamed among players and fans, was previously at the helm of Palmeiras between 1997 and 2000, when they were crowned with success by winning the Brazilian championship, Libertadores Cup and Copa Brasil trophies.

Luiz Felipe Scolari will possibly substitute for Brazil coach Mano Menezes in the nearest future.
