Scotland McGhee: we are aware of Bale threat
Scotland assistant manager Mark McGhee revealed Scotland are preparing a plan to contain Welsh wizard Gareth Bale.
Scotland face Wales on Friday in World Cup qualifiers realizing that in-form Bale could be a serious menace to the team’s chances of securing a much-needed victory.
Bale delivered a man-of-the-match performance in their previous game in October, scoring two goals to help his team to a 2-1 victory. Tottenham winger has been in miraculous form this season, leading the pundits and the fans compare him to the global superstars Ronaldo and Messi.
McGhee said that Scotland are aware of Bale threat and hope to reduce his influence by elaborating a special plan. “I have watched a lot of him recently and obviously we realise he’s a huge threat. I think any management team in the world at this moment in time coming up against Gareth Bale would give him serious consideration and of course we will do that and we will have a plan to deal with him as best as we possibly can.”
“But I think we also feel that we are at home, it’s a World Cup qualifier and we feel that by exerting our influence on the game then possibly that can undermine his chances of being a big influence on the game. I’ve seen teams who have dealt with Bale’s quality. I don’t think we will be man marking him,” he added.
