Stoke Nzonzi handed in transfer request

Stoke City midfielder Steven Nzonzi handed in a transfer request to leave the club as soon as possible.

The 24-yerar-old Nzonzi, who was named best young club’s player, is reportedly worried about long-term stability of the club in the wake of Tony Pulis’ departure. He is also determined to try and prove himself on a bigger stage.

It is to be recalled that Stoke City’s board has decided to sack Pulis following a string of poor results which saw the Potters only narrowly avoiding relegation. Pulis has been in charge of Stoke for about seven years.

Meanwhile Stoke chairman Peter Coates tried to remain optimistic about the situation. He said: “I can confirm that we have received a written transfer request from Steven Nzonzi. We are not unduly worried about the situation as he is our player and has three years remaining on his contract.”
