Sturridge set to miss friendly against Brazil

Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge will miss England’s upcoming international friendly against Brazil, after sustaining an ankle injury during 1-1 draw against Republic of Ireland.

Sturridge has made his first start for the national side, but was stretchered off after 30 minutes. England manager Roy Hodgson revealed he is unsure as to seriousness of Sturridge’s injury, but confirmed he will definitely miss England’s trip to Brazil.

Hodgson said: “It’s ligament damage, we think. It will definitely keep him out for the Rio game and we think it will keep him out for a few weeks.”
