Sunderland to bid for Tottenham Huddlestone

Sunderland are lining up a move for Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone, with Hull and Fulham are also said to be interested.

Sunderland have triggered negotiations with Tottenham over a proposed £5million move for their midfielder Tom Huddlestone, who is unwanted by the Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas. The Portuguese is determined to offload an injury-prone player, despite the relatively successful season, which saw the 26-year-old making 29 appearances.

However the Black Cats’ boss Paolo Di Canio faces a stiff competition from the side of Hull and Fulham, who are desperate to expand their midfield options. Should the deal go through, this could be seen as a statement of intent to the Sunderland fans, disappointed with club’s finishing position last season.
