Sunderland chase Nancy Salif

New Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio is weighting up the possibility of bringing Nancy defender Salif Sane.

Sunderland have been tracking Sane’s development for several months, after O’Neil has instructed his scouts to watch the 22-year-old in action with a view of potential purchase in January. The Senegal international himself is keen on prospect of playing in England and could be available for £1.5million.

Injury-plagued Sunderland are experiencing lack of defensive options and Di Canio is considering Salif Sane as an ideal addition to his squad. Sane revealed he would like to join the Black Cats irrespective of whether they retain their Premier League status or be relegated to the Championship.
