Super-sub Ole Gunnar Solskjær comes on for Malky Mackay

Super-sub Ole Gunnar Solskjær comes on for Malky Mackay

The man who has won so many matches for Manchester United coming on from the bench in the second half returns to Premier League to replace Malky Mackay midway through the season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær scored over a hundred goals in almost four hundred appearances for The Red Devils during his 11-year spell at Manchester United. Most of the goals were coming late in the games as the Norwegian was deemed a perfect sub. His most notorious goal came in the added time of the Champions League final against Bayern Munich in 1999 which saw United win the trophy in a fantastic fashion. He then proceeded to coaching career and took charge of United reserves, before moving back to Norway to become the head coach of his youth club Molde. During the three-year spell Ole Gunnar won two national titles and one Cup.

On 2 January, he was invited to replace Malky Mackay at the helm of Cardiff City.

“It’s a fantastic challenge to be here, it is the right step for me now”, claimed Solskjær at his first press-conference.
“What Cardiff have shown in the last three or four years - being in the play-offs, being promoted and in a couple of cup finals, they are ready for the next step and hopefully I will be the one who can do that with my philosophy of football”.

However, many fans wonder whether the 40-year old coach would be able to last long under wayward owner Vincent Tan.
