Terry appears in court for racial abuse

The captain of Chelsea football club John Terry who is charged with racial abuse came to court on Monday. During the cross-examination the player stated a number of times that he had not used racist terms to abuse QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.

The 31-year-old player denied an allegation of offending the player mentioning the color of his skin.

The incident happened last October as Chelsea and QPR were playing at Loftus Park and Terry insulted Ferdinand during the match. John Terry also noted that ‘Whilst footballers are used to industrial language, using racist terms is completely unacceptable whatever [the] situation’.

if found guilty for a racially-aggravated public order offence Chelsea defender could be fined for 2500 pounds and be banned from international caps for England for several matches. The ruling of the court will be announced on Friday.
