Top 5 Premier League young players

Top 5 Premier League young players

FootballTop.com has thought of the brightest revelations among young players in the current Premier League campaign and here is our view

5. Serge Gnabry

Age: 18
Club: Arsenal

Gnabry joined Arsenal from Stuttgart in 2011. After a season with the club’s youth team he debuted for the senior squad in October 2012. But it is the current season when he managed to shine in the match against Swansea City, scoring a goal. Wenger gave credit to the youngster’s talent and desire.

Serge in his turn told FootballTop: “Arsene is one of the best managers in the world. Everyone is aware of that. Arsene is an intelligent specialist and a calm person. Nevertheless he can be severe and tough if he wants! Arsene motivates me, tells me how to do better and progress. He tells me not to think too much and what I can do best. When you feel support of someone like Wenger, your confidence grows. And I think I have bright future” .

4. Aaron Ramsey

Age: 22

Club: Arsenal

It’s not the first season the Welshman is around. Still, we decided to include him in our list. He has been a promising player for a couple of seasons, one of Arsene Wenger’s many young talents. He scored four goals during the previous three seasons with the club. Eight matches into the current season he’s already got five. In Premier League alone. A couple of days before he earned a draw for his national team against Belgium. He’s also been impressive in the Champions League.

Ramsey has been setting records since youth. He became the youngest player to ever play for Cardiff City at the age of 16 and 124 days. In 2008 he played in the FA Cup final, becoming the second youngest player to do so. No wonder Arsenal, Everton and Manchester United tried to lure the promising youngster. The Welshman preferred to continue his career under Arsene Wenger. Shortly later he suffered a horrible open fracture in the match against Stoke and has struggled to find his best form. Looks like Ramsey has now fully recovered from the injury and surprised Arsene Wenger by hitting the Player of the Month award in September. Aaron considers better concentration a key to success.

3. Ross Barkley

Age: 19
Club: Everton

Ross Barkley joined Everton football system at the age of 11 and at 16 was included into the senior team. Three years ago the youngster was included in the squad against Newcastle United but did not make it to the field. Moreover, he was ruled out for the rest of the 2010/2011 season after a triple foot fracture, sustained while playing for the England youth team.

The long-awaited debut happened in the first round of the following season. Everton lost to QPR, but Barkley was one of the best in his team. He started to make occasional appearances but was later loaned to Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United. After Marouane Fellaini’s departure to Manchester United Barkley became the pivot in Everton’s midfield. He scored twice in eight matches for The Toffees.

This did not pass by Chelsea scouts, who expressed interest in the promising midfielder. However, Everton have no intention to sell him for less than 20 million pounds. And the player himself doesn’t fancy leaving the club where he gets regular football and has plenty of opportunities to develop performance. Even The Three Lions captain Steven Gerrard advised him against joining a big club where he would struggle for line-up chances. Besides, Barkley needs to show himself off to persuade Roy Hodgsoninclude him in the squad travelling to Brazil next summer. Former England manager Glen Hoddle claimed that Barkley is one of the few future British stars.

2. Adnan Januzaj

Age: 18
Club: Manchester United

This 18-year old player has not played many matches but impressed to such an extent that some of the top clubs plotted to lure him away from Old Trafford. However, the Belgian preferred to extend his contract with The Red Devils by 5 years.

Januzaj saved his club in the match against struggling Sunderland scoring a brace and did it in style to make pundits talk about him as a new rising star. Besides, Januzaj has not made up his mind regarding a national tam to represent as he is eventually eligible to play for Belgium, Serbia, Albania, Turkey and unacknowledged Kosovo. The debates have risen whether he could represent the England national team after completing a required five-year British residence, enabling him to become a national. Jack Wilshere condemned such naturalization claiming “only British people can represent the national team”.

In 2011 Januzaj was bought from Anderlecht for as little as 700 thousand pounds. It was Sir Alex Ferguson who spotted the talent. Adnan debuted for the senior team during the Asian tour in July 2013. Later on he played in the Community Shield final and debuted in the Premier League.

1. Andros Townsend

Age: 22
Club: Tottenham

Coming through Tottenham Hotspur youth system, Andros has often been loaned out. 2009/10 – Yeovil Town, Leyton Orient, Milton Keynes Dons; 2010/11 Ipswich Town, Watford, Millwall; 2012/13 — Leeds United, Birmingham City, QPR. Finally, at the beginning of the 2013/2014 season, Andros began playing in the main squad of his parent club Tottenham Hotspur.

Not only did Andros start performing for the club, but was also invited to represent The Three Lions and helped the national side to make it to the World Cup. He was named the man of the match against Montenegro when he scored an important goal. Harry Redknapp compared Andros to Arjen Robben, Roy Hodgson praised and the club offered a contract renewal on better terms.
