Tottenham AVB confident on retaining Bale
Tottenham Andre Villas-Boas is hoping to hold onto the services of winger Gareth Bale, despite missing out on Champions League.
Welsh wizard’s magnificent form this season earned him PFA Footballer of the Year award, and numerous top European sides are sniffing around with a view to lure the player from the White Hart Lane. Tottenham face a tough task of retaining their main star after finishing in the fifth spot, one point behind their bitter rivals Arsenal, even though they won their last Premier League game by virtue of Bale’s outstanding goal. The victory was not enough as the Gunners’ win at St.James Park over Newcastle left them in the fifth spot.
Asked if it would be harder to convince Bale to remain at the club, Andre Villas-Boas said: “No, I don’t think so. It has been an ongoing question. I think it is absolutely fine. We have to keep our ambitions high and hold on to the best players.
“The reference is there from the points tally to make it better for the future and to do that we need to hold on to our best assets. Today was another great moment of individual brilliance, although the squad in the second half was really, really strong and everyone was pushing for the winner,” he added.
