Tottenham edge closer to signing Barcelona Villa
Tottenham technical director Franco Baldini will talk to unsettled Barcelona star David Villa over a proposed move to White Hart Lane by the end of the week.
At the moment Villa is on an international duty with Spain squad at the Confederations Cup, as they are facing Italy in the semi-finals. It is to be recalled the forward netted a hat-trick against minnows Tahiti last week.
Villa had a mixed season at Camp Nou last season, as he failed to return to full fitness after the broken leg, which kept him on the sidelines for large part of Barca’s 2011-2012 La Liga campaign. Despite the number of his first-team outings being limited last season, he managed to score 16 goals last season to help his side reclaim La Liga title.
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas considers Villa as an ideal candidate to expand his attacking options, amid Adebayor’s inconsistency and Defoe’s fitness problems. Valencia striker Roberto Soldado is another target of the Portuguese.
