Tottenham Gomes is set to leave the club
Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes is expecting to leave White Hart Lane in the near future, as he wants a regular first team football.
The 32-year-old Brazilian has not made a Premier League appearance in Tottenham shirt in two years. The Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas loaned him out to Hoffenheim, however Gomes made just nine Bundesliga starts before broking hand.
Gomes, who is entering the final year of his contract, remains optimistic as regards his future and believes his return to action in Germany could earn him attractive offer. He said: “Even though I only started playing in January, I showed I can play a high level. I will only stay at Tottenham if I can play. If I can’t show my work, I will seek an organised team with a good project, be it in Brazil or abroad.”
Gomes also thinks he has what it takes to receive a call-up for brazil national team ahead of World Cup. He said: “The goalkeeper is a matter of trust, and Scolari trusts in his current three goalkeepers. I can’t deny they are great goalkeepers. Jefferson and Diego Cavalieri are having great seasons at their clubs, and Julio Cesar has done a lot for Brazil. But I still think I can be called up. If I have one better season, I can achieve that.”
