Tottenham Gomez targets PSV return

Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes admitted he is looking forward to leaving the club and would jump at a chance of returning to PSV Eindhoven in summer.

The 32-year-old Brazilian fell out of favour with Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas, who prefers playing either veteran Brad Friedel or Hugo Lloris between the sticks, and joined Hoffenheim until the rest of the season in January. Gomes suffered a broken hand and will not feature in the starting XI this season.

After Gomes fully recovers from his injury he is likely to consider the available options and would leave the club, should offers be made. He said: “I’m in no hurry and take the time to take the right decision. This is an important choice. But first I have to recover from my injury. Next season I want to be in top shape at a new club.

“At PSV, I experienced the best time of my career. I’ve always said that I would return to PSV. Maybe that time is now. My contract at Tottenham Hotspur is only for one more year. I think Tottenham wants to contribute to my leaving now. At this stage of my career, money is not the most important thing. And I have something to offer. I have five or six good years ahead,” he added.
