Rasmus Elm and Marcus Berg gave Sweden a win over Kazakhstan with two goals.
Austria 1-2 Germany
Goals from Mesut Ozil and Marco Reus helped Germany to get their three points in their Group C World Cup qualifier.
Group D
Romania 4-0 Andorra
Romania earned a comfortable 4-0 win against Andorra.
Hungary 1-4 Netherlands
Louis van Gaal’s side overwhelmed the hosts.
Turkey 3-0 Estonia
Having been defeated by the Netherlands, Turkey secured a comfortable 3-0 win over Estonia.
Group E
Norway 2-1 Slovenia
John Arne Riise’s penalty in the injury time saved Slovenia three points.
Cyprus 1-0 Iceland
Konstantinos Makridis helped Cyprus with the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Iceland.
Switzerland 2-0 Albania
Switzerland’s successive start of the FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign was proved with a 2-0 victory over Albania in Lucerne.
Group F
Northern Ireland finished a 1-1 draw against Luxembourg in Belfast.
Israel 0-4 Russia
Fabio Capello’s side earned an impressive 4-0 win in Israel, Russians scored two goals in each half.
Portugal 3-0 Azerbaijan
Silvestre Varela scored an opener and Helder Postiga and Bruno Alves brought Portugal 2-0 and then 3-0 win in dying minutes.
Group G
Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-1 Latvia
Bosnia-Herzegovina recorded their second high-scoring win in a row.
Slovakia and Greece scored two goals without a response from Liechtenstein and Lithuania respectively.
Group H
England 1-1 Ukraine
England lacked several injured players and managed to rescue a 1-1 draw due to Frank Lampard, who cancelled out Yevhen Konoplyanka’s opener several minutes from time.
San Marino 0-6 Montenegro
Montenegro showed the most impressive result of the night.
Poland gained their three points, winning Moldova 2-0.
Group I
France earned a 3-1 win against Belarus.
Georgia 0-1 Spain
World champions Spain hardly secured a narrow 1-0 lead over Temur Ketsbaia’s side when Soldado netted on the 86th minute.
