United makes an unexpected signing

After 0-1 defeat to Everton on Monday in the game that showed obvious problems in the defense line, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson signs a 23-year-old left-back from Vitesse.

The player sealed a five-year deal with the Red Devils for an undisclosed fee.

Manchester United boss was satisfied with the deal, claiming that the defender is one of the best left-backs in the European leagues. The head coach added the player is someone the club has been looking for a long time and stated Buttner will provide more options in the defense line for the team.

Buttner himself was delighted with the contract, stating: ‘Joining Manchester United is one of the best days of my life.’ The Dutch underlined he has always admired the side and is ready to join the squad for helping it to achieve success.
The Dutch press was quite surprised with the transfer, as the defender was perceived as a decent one, yet not at the level of Evra or Vidic. The Dutch football pundit Mark Van Rijswik called the move as ‘a very big surprise for Netherlands’.
