Valencia set to unveil Djukic as their new coach
Valencia are expected to announce the appointment of Miroslav Djukic as their new manager today.
The Serbian who left Real Valladolid last week, will succeed Ernesto Valverde in charge of Valencia. Valverde was sacked after Valencia narrowly missed out on Champions League on the final day, as they suffered a dramatic 4-3 defeat at the hands of Sevilla with Alvaro Negredo scoring all four goals.
Djukic was hired as Valladolid coach back in 2011, helping his side to win promotion at the first time of asking and reaching a safe mid-table finish this season.
The 47-year-old will be unveiled today. Djukic revealed he is happy to be back at Mestalla, where he played between 1997 to 2003. He said: “There is a good squad here who can achieve great things. To me, it’s a dream to come to Valencia. This is home to me, and I have always regarded it as so.”
