Wednesday’s Italian Serie A, Bundesliga and the Coupe de la Ligue matches

Serie A ups and downs

AC Milan secured their first home victory this Serie A campaign beating Cagliari 2-0. Stephan El Shaarawy scored twice at San Siro on Wednesday, bringing three points to the Rossoneri.

Pescara’s late goal ensured a narrow 1-0 victory over Palermo while Catania overwhelmed Atalanta 2-1.

Alvaro Pereira and Antonio Cassano earned FC Internazionale a 2-0 away win against Chievo at the Bentegodi. So Inter has a four-point gap behind Juventus.

SSC Napoli earned a 3-0 victory at the expense of Lazio. It was Edinson Cavani, Napoli’s hero, who scored twice before the break and added one more in the second half.

Genoa and Parma recorded a 1-1 draw as well as Roma and Sampdoria. Torino and Udinese finished with a goalless draw.

Wednesday’s Bundesliga night

Lars Stindl, Szabolcs Huszti and Didier Ya Konan with his two goals notched a comfortable 4-1 win for Hannover 96 over 1.FC Nuremberg at the AWD-Arena.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen claimed a 3-1 win against FC Augsburg via Stefan Kießling, Philipp Wollscheid and Andre Schürrle. The host could only grab a consolation.

Werder Bremen came from behind to gain 2-1 victory over SC Freiburg. VfB Stuttgart suffered a 0-3 loss at Hoffenheim.

Thanks to a late goal from Alvaro Dominguez Borussia Mönchengladbach earned a point in a 2-2 draw against Hamburger SV.

The Coupe de la Ligue round of 32

In France Nice, Sochaux, Saint-Etienne, Troyes, Toulouse, Arles and Monaco booked their places in the last 16 of the Coupe de la Ligue on Wednesday night.

Wednesday’s La Liga match

Last evening Real Betis faced Atlético Madrid to notch a remarkable 2-4 win. Salvador Agra gave the hosting side the lead which Radamel Falcao cancelled out just in two minutes. Juanfran helped the rivals with an own goal and Falcao improved the situation with his penalty immediately after the half-time mark. Diego Costa and Raúl García’s second half goals doubled the score.
