Wenger convinced Walcott returns to his best

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes Theo Walcott, who is facing two months without a goal, will regain his goal scoring form.

Theo Walcott is currently leading Arsenal’s goal scoring charts, having netted 18 goals in all competitions. However goal drought and recent groin injury have negatively influenced player’s confidence. Remarkably a slump in form came following Walcott’s signing a new deal in January, leading to suggestions striker became complacent after securing a lucrative deal.

Wenger, who cited professionalism and commitment of the player to be main reasons of the club offering him a new contract, refuses to admit this is the case, and is convinced player helps the Gunners to finish in the top four this season.

He said: “I don’t believe that. If he didn’t play well and had not signed a contract, then people would say the opposite. I don’t think that is linked, especially with the fact that he has signed a contract or not. Because you can say as well he is more secure, he can express himself. At Bayern he didn’t have the greatest game, but he still brought the goal. He will come back.”
