Wenger wants to land a striker

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger revealed he plans to sign a new striker before the end of the January transfer window.

Wenger has been sending mixed signals to his fans throughout January. While admitting the necessity to strengthen his attacking line he says there is not ‘enough quality’ in January. In a recent interview the Frenchman admitted that although he is satisfied with the overall depth of his squad he would like to sign one or two forwards before the end of the transfer window. He also said it may not be easy to find the player of a suitable quality. “I cannot promise we will sign anybody today, tomorrow, Tuesday or on Wednesday because at the moment we are not close to anything. It is not about optimism. How realistic I am is most important,” – he added.

Arsenal have been linked with moves for several players including Fiorentina Stevan Jovetic Atletico Madrid’s Adrian Lopez and out-of-favor Barcelona David Villa.
