West Ham on the verge of signing Shakhtar Donetsk Rat

West Ham are set to complete the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk defender Razvan Rat, as the Romanian flew to London to pass his medical.

After living up their expectation of reaching the safe mid-table position this season, West Ham are already planning for future. West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has made the strengthening of the defensive line his priority with Shakhtar’s Razvan Rat, Wigan’s Maynor Figueroa and Hull’s Danny Simpson topping his wish list.

Big Sam has reportedly secured the services of the 31-year-old Rat, who is expected to sign a three-year deal that will keep him at the club up until 2016. Rat’s agent revealed: ‘The trainer has put him on the top of the wish list and the owner has approved the move.’
