Wigan Caldwell set to undergo a surgery next week
Wigan defender Gary Caldwell is set to have a surgery on his hip next week.
Caldwell has been playing through the pain barrier several last games, and will require an operation to fix his hip problem, according to medical staff.
It means Caldwell will be sidelined for several months, missing the Scotland’s World Cup qualifier against Croatia and could be facing a race against time to be fit and healthy for the start of next season.
Caldwell said: “I have been struggling for the past six months with a hip problem and I have seen a specialist, and I am going to need another clean-up operation that I will get next week. Hopefully that can get me back to full fitness and get me back playing early next season, and I am just looking forward to getting pain free again and doing as well as I can.”
