World Cup fixtures: Mexico desperate to beat USA
Mexico will be hoping to notch their first victory of the Hexagon at the expense of unstable USA side as they chase top three finish, which guarantees the direct qualification for the 2014 World Cup final stages.
Mexico have drawn their first two games against Jamaica and Honduras and are currently sitting in the fourth place, two points behind the second-placed USA. La Verde manager Jose Manuel de la Torre urged the players to be focused on improving and not be disillusioned with the results. He said: “We must keep working hard on improving everything, technically, tactically, mentally… everything.”
USA manager Jurgen Klinsmann said they are prepared for tough Mexico test, stating: “We respect them a lot but don’t fear them. They know they must gain the three points but we must too.”
