Karim Benzema was the star man as he scored twice and pushed the goalkeeper for an own goal. Real Madrid striker converted a penalty for a foul on Paul Pogba shortly before the break. Minutes after restart Karim struck the post before the Honduran keeper Noel Valladares notched the ball just over the line. It was the first time on the tournament the referee had to use the goal-line technology to see if the ball had crossed the line. Benzema added the third goal on 72 minutes to make it 3-0. Comfortable victory for Didier Deschamps’ men, who top the table alongside Switzerland, who had snatched three points from Ecuador in added time.
