World Cup qualification results (CONCACAF): USA beat Honduras, Costa Rica outplay Panama

Jozy Altidore netted the only goal of the game as USA cemented their lead in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying group with a 1-0 victory over Honduras.

Klinsmann’s men had to wait until 73rd minute before Jozy Altidore gave them a lead with a fine finish from Fabian Johnson’s assist. The result means USA recorded their fourth successive victory and moved two points clear of nearest rivals Costa Rica.

USA are currently topping the table with 13 points, while Costa Rica are trailing them by two points after a 2-0 win over bottom-dwellers Panama courtesy of goals from Bryan Ruiz and Celso Borges.

Third-placed Mexico are three points behind Costa Rica and one point ahead of Honduras.
