Yaya Toure won African Footballer of the Year award

Yaya Toure won African Footballer of the Year award

eurosport.yahoo.com reports that Man City midfielder Yaya Toure has been voted the best African footballer for the second consecutive time.

The Ivory Coast international has been in remarkable form this year, helping his national team to reach the final of the 2012 African Cup of Nations and leading Man City to a Premier League title.

Toure’s closest competitor for the award was the compatriot Didier Drogba, who contributed greatly to Chelsea’s Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich, but missed the penalty in the African Cup of Nations final that allowed Zambia to pull off a surprise penalty shootout win.
