Young injury woe for Man Utd

Young injury woe for Man Utd

Manchester United winger Ashley Young is set to miss the upcoming Premier League clash against Stoke City after he was forced to leave the pitch during Manchester derby.

The England international has sustained an ankle injury after the tough challenge with Zabaleta in Man Utd’s 2-1 defeat against Man City at Old Trafford. He was replaced by Shinji Kagawa in the 92nd minute of the game.

The medical assessment revealed Young’s injury is not as serious as it was feared before, however he is unlikely to feature in the game against Stoke City on Sunday. Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed: “We’ve got six days until the Stoke game and, obviously, Ashley may be out. It may not be serious but I think he’ll miss Sunday’s game.”

Fergie has also expressed concern over the lack of fitness of his centre-backs, saying: “We’ll have to assess the centre-backs as the week goes on. We’ll have to hope we can get them fit, particularly for the Stoke match, because we know what it’s going to be like down there.”
