Aaron Hunt was born on 4 September 1986 in Goslar, Germany. Mainly a winger, Aaron can also perform as an attacking midfielder or forward.
Hunt began his career in VfL Oker and GSC Goslar youth academies. In 2001 he joined Werder Bremen and played for the club’s youth teams till 2003, when he was included in the reserves. All in all, Aaron delivered 8 goals in 37 matches for the second team, making the last appearance in 2007. The footballer made his senior debut on 18 September 2004 versus Hannover 86, appearing on the pitch as a substitute. A year later, he delivered his first league goal against Borussia Mönchengladbach, becoming Werder Bremen’s youngest goalscorer. On 3 March 2007 Hunt fired his debut hat-trick in the match versus VfL Bochum.
On 27 November 2006 the player extended his contract with the club until June 2010. Soon he suffered an injury, which kept him off the pitch for seven months. However, on his return, Aaron helped his team to win Real Madrid 3-2 in the UEFA Champions League match. Owing to this, Hunt’s contract was extended until 30 June 2014. Having played in almost 300 matches for Werder Bremen, Hunt moved to Wolfsburg.
Having a German father and an English mother, the footballer was eligible to play for both countries. However, he decided to pursue a career for Germany, starting with the U-16 and U-17 teams. In 2005 Aaron was selected in the U-21 squad. Having played successfully 13 games, he was promoted to the senior national team. His debut fell on 14 November 2009 in a friendly match against Chile.
