Acorán Barrera Reyes was born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain in 1983. He began his professional playing career with local CD Tenerife. On 9 September 2001 he made his first appearance in La Liga and that was a 0-3 defeat to Celta de Vigo. After CD Tenerife faced relegation he was sent on loan to Burgos, then to Corralejo in 2003/04 and in 2004/05 to Universidad LP.
In 2005 Acorán joined the reserve team of Celta de Vigo, where he stayed for a season and then moved to Melilla. He had spells at San Isidro, returned to UD Melilla for a season, in 2009 he joined Puertollano. In 2010/11 he made 20 appearances but the team was relegated from Segunda División.
Acorán moved to Ponferradina in 2011 and still plays there as a midfielder.
