Ádám Szalai is a German striker, born on 9 December 1987 in Budapest, Hungary.
Ádám performed for the Budapest Honvéd youth team, Ujpest and Stuttgart. In the 2006/2007 season he played for FC Stuttgart II. In total, Szalai made 33 appearances and 15 goals for the club.
In August 2007, the striker moved to FC Real Madrid Castilla, where he played in Real Madrid B (the reserve team). On 11 February 2009 Szalai made an appearance for the Hungarian national team.
On 9 January 2010 FC Real loaned Szalai to the football club Mainz 05 until June. He debuted for the new team on 16 January 2010. Ádám netted his first goal for the club on 10 April in a 1-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund. The 24-year-old player netted eight goals in 50 appearances, sustaining a knee injury which had ruled him out for a year. After the contract expiration Mainz bought the rights to the striker, later Ádám signed a three-year contract with the club until 2015. However, he switched for Schalke 04 in the summer 2013. One season later Szalai moved to Hoffenheim.
Ádám Szalai performed regularly for the Hungarian U-21. In February 2009, the player made his debut, coming in as a substitute during the 84th minute of a 0-1 defeat to Israel. During the UEFA Euro 2012 qualifier against San Marino, Ádám performed a hat-trick in a 8-0 victory. The player continued his international career on 29 February 2012 after his injury netting a goal against Bulgaria, the match ended in a tie.
