Adrián López Alvárez is a Spanish striker who plays for Atlético Madrid.
He spent 30 games with 4 goals for Oviedo until he moved to Deportivo La Coruña being entrusted to a place in the main squad at once.
López managed to raise his club to the Primera in the season 2006/07. The key game that he played for the club was the one against Barcelona. In spite of a 1-2 defeat Adrián was noticed owing to the bright and clever football he delivered. As a result he went on 2 consequent loans to Alavés in 2008 (10 appearances, 3 goals) and newly-promoted Málaga (28 appearances, 3 goals) but not being able to play well enough to stay permanently in both teams he returned to Deportivo in 2010.
In 2011 he signed for Atlético Madrid. He became one of the key players of the ‘Colchoneros’ with 36 appearances and 7 goals.
His international career is quite intense as he used to perform for the youth teams of all ages, mainly for the U-21 and U-23 teams. Adrián was the one to drag his team into the final of the U-21 European championship in 2011 scoring a late equalizer against Belarus in the semifinals and overcoming Switzerland in the final match. He was awarded golden foot of the tournament and helped his team qualify for the Olympic Games 2012 in London.
