Adrián López Rodríguez is a back of Wigan Athletic. He was born on 25 February 1987 in As Pontes, Spain.
Adrián’s youth career took off in the academy of local As Pontes, where he spent some time before attracting the attention of a stronger and more prestigious Spanish side club. During a match between two junior squads in 2001, the footballer was scouted by Deportivo La Coruña. López was offered to train in the youth system of the new club so that to develop into a pro in future. In 2001 the back accepted the offer and trained in the academy of Deportivo during five years before he was ready to make a professional start.
In the summer 2006, Adrián graduated to the reserve team of the club, where he made 12 appearances till 2008, when the defender fully switched to the first team. From 2007 till 2010, the footballer featured in 26 games and found the net one time for Deportivo La Coruña. In January 2011, López drew the attention of English side Wigan Athletic, which was looking for a reserve defender. That offer corresponded to the back’s wishes and he officially became a player of ‘Latics’.
