A Moroccan footballer Ahmed Kantari plays for RC Lens as a centre-back.
Ahmed started training football at the academy of Blois Foot 41, where he stayed until he was past 15. Together with the team he took part in the national championship in Orleans. Still being a teenager, he left his mother town to start training at Paris Saint-Germain. He spent a few years at the youth department of the club, gaining the required experience and performing in various competitions, still being off age.
In 2005, the management of PSG offered him a contract at the senior level. In the summer 2005, Kantari became a professional footballer, after taking the offer. At the age of 20 he became the captain of the reserves for the 2005/2006 season. But he made no appearances as a starter in Ligue 1.
In the summer 2006, he joined Strasbourg from Ligue 2. Very soon the club got promotion to the top division. That changes adversely affected Ahmed’s career. He lost his place in the starting line-up, being replaced with Jean-Mark Floran. That’s why the first half of the 2007/2008 season was spent on the bench by Ahmed.
The footballer wasn’t happy with the pass, so he was glad to find out he would be loaned to Stade Brestois. He managed a fabulous season with the team, so the head coach made it a priority to buy out his contract. In 2008, after finalizing the deal, Ahmed became a permanent player of the French side. He fit the squad perfectly and became one of the anchor players from the very beginning. The contract was extended during the spell and Kantari remained the starter of the team.
On 11 May 2011, the player was unlucky to get Achilles tendon rupture of the right leg. The injury became a serious barrier to successful career, as Ahmed was sidelined for about half a year.
In 2013 Kantari switched for RC Lens.
