The Brazilian footballer commonly known as Alan plays as a forward for Braga. He was born on 19 September 1979 in Salvador, Brazil.
Alan is a product of Ipatinga’s youth system where he spent a year and a half from 1998 to 1999. In 2000 he began his professional career with this club. During the 2000/2001 season Alan made several appearances for Ipatinga but he didn’t manage to become a regular first team player.
In 2001 he moved to the Portuguese side Marítimo. During four years at the club, the forward often got into the starting line-up gaining priceless playing experience and devoting himself to the club in order to help Marítimo to achieve a high position in the Championship. During four seasons Alan featured in 109 matches and kicked 14 goals for this Portuguese club.
In 2005 the footballer drew the attention of the Lisbon football club Porto which made Alan an advantageous offer. In the summer 2005 the Brazilian footballer officially joined Porto sealing a long-term deal with this club. During first two seasons, Alan scored 2 goals in 32 matches. As Alan came on the pitch from time to time, the management decided to send him on loan where he could get into the stating eleven more often gaining enough playing time. The footballer spent the 2007/2008 season with Vitória de Guimarães where he netted once in 29 games.
In 2008 Alan penned a contract with Braga where he plays until now. Alan is an important figure in Braga. He appears in the starting line-up virtually in all the matches for his club. Since 2008 Alan has kicked 19 goals in more than 110 games for Braga (as of October 2012).
