Alberto Aquilani is a midfielder for Fiorentina. He was born on 7 July 1984 in Rome, Italy.
Alberto’s professional career started in 2002 at A.S. Roma. After the youth academy, he joined the senior squad. In his debut 2002/03 season Alberto appeared in a few matches and was later loaned out to Triestina Calcio for the 2003/2004 season, where he had become a key player, having scored 4 goals in 41 appearances. After a loan spell at Triestina, Alberto returned to Roma, where he became a regular during the 2005/06 seasons. By 2009 Aquilani played 102 matches and netted 9 goals for the Italian club.
In 2009 Liverpool F.C. scouts set their eyes on the Italian midfielder and stated that they were ready to pay Roma 20 million euros for the transfer of Aquilani. During the 2009/10 season Alberto was periodically included in the starting eleven and scored 1 goal in 18 appearances.
In 2010 Alberto was loaned out to Juventus for one season. There he played 33 matches and netted 2 goals.
In 2011 Aquilani continued to feature in Serie A as a loaned player, this time with A.C. Milan. At the end of the season 2011/2012 Milan refused to extend the loan and Alberto had to accept Fiorentina’s offer.
From 2000 to 2007 Alberto Aquilani scored 8 goals in 90 matches for all of the Italian youth teams. Since 2006 Aquilani has appeared in 21 matches for the Italian national team and scored 3 goals.
