Aleksandr Filtsov was born on January 2, 1990 in Shimanovsk, Soviet Union.
Alexandr began playing football at the Yury Konoplev’s football academy. In 2007, he signed his first professional contract with FC Krylia Sovetov-SOK Dimitrovgrad, with which made his senior debut on September 4, 2007 against FC Sokol Saratov.
In 2008, Filtsov transferred to FC Togliatti where he appeared in 31 matches and conceded 44 goals. In 2010, the goalkeeper signed a four-and-a-half year contract with FC Lokomotiv Moscow and first was sent to the reserve side. On May 2010, Alexander was shortlisted to the first team as his rival Anton Amelchenko had suffered an injury during a warm-up and was out of game for a while. On June 18, Anton made his Premier League debut in the match against FC Spartak Moscow. He came on in the 60th minute of the match, substituting Dmitry Sychev and taking place in the net instead of the first-choice keeper Guilherme, who had been sent off.
In 2011, Filtsov as a part of Lokomotiv’s reserve squad became the champion of the Russian youth football league. In 2013 the keeper was sent on loan to Krasnodar.
On November 26, 2007, Alexander Filtsov was called up to the Russia U-17 national squad. On January 5, 2008, the keeper made his international debut appearing on the 90th minute of the match against the team of Slovakia during the Valentin Granatkin Memorial and subsequently featured in three more games of the tournament. In February 2011, Filtsov was capped for the Russia U-21 national squad. On February 9, he appeared in a friendly versus Ukraine, coming on in the 60th minute of the match.
