Aleksandr Pavlenko is a Russian midfielder born on 20 January 1985 in the town of Ordzhonikidze, Ukraine.
Aleksandr came up through the youth ranks of Dynamo Moscow, Akademika Moscow and a Swiss side FC Lausanne-Sport.
In 2001, he signed a professional contract with FC Spartak Moscow, and debuted in the Russian Premier League in the same season. His strong performances helped the club to win the Russian Premier League at the end of the season. The following year, Pavlenko cemented his place in the starting eleven and made his debut in the UEFA Champions League. In the 2003 season, he was instrumental in winning the Russian Cup with Spartak. Overall, Pavlenko made a total of 105 appearances for the club during his nine-year spell, excluding some loans.
In 2007, the Ukranian midfielder played on loan at Shinnik Yaroslavl amassing 38 matches for the temporary club and helping them to promote to the Premier League. The same year, Aleksandr became the best player and the best midfielder of the Russian First Division. In 2009, he was loaned to FC Rostov amassing 33 games for the side.
In February 2011, Pavlenko signed a three-and-a-half year contract with FC Terek Grozny. In 2013 he moved to Krylia Sovetov.
